We’d heard good things about Viento Coffee Company on St Albans Road, but only managed to make it there after a summer visit to the (highly recommended) cobblers next door. A mistake, as we wished we’d discovered it months ago!
We haven’t eaten there yet, but you can see there’s a great range of fresh sandwiches (eg smoked salmon and cream cheese bagel; tomato, rocket and cheese focaccia) and fantastic looking Italian cakes (aragostine, barchette gianduia) in the photo above. There’s also a small menu offering brunch-style hot dishes, and on our last visit every table was full of people eating (a good indication, given it was the middle of a Sunday afternoon).

The real reason for coming, however, is the superb coffee. This is freshly roasted on-site, and their flat white is the best in Watford. We’ve had a couple of take-outs from there, and the quality was great both times.

Seating space inside is limited, but there’s a few chairs outside if the weather permits. There’s also a loyalty card – on current form ours will very shortly be full!
