Just a quick post about a great lunch find in St Albans: Bar Mezé is a Cypriot restaurant serving Greek, Ottoman and Arabic-influenced food. We ordered a couple of the usual bread-and-dips (houmous, tzatziki) as well as one of the house specials: an Egyptian filo pastry with chicken, feta, béchamel sauce and herbs. The food was delicious, and just the right amount for the three of us.
The restaurant is extremely welcoming of children, and as it’s slightly off the beaten path a useful retreat from the city centre crowds. That said, they do seem to cater for a lot of large groups (great sharing food!), so if you’ve got kids it’s best to get there early!
